May 27, 2014

stabbing-investigationWarm weather and hot tempers led to a series of shootings over the Memorial Day weekend and the violence spilled into the early morning hours of the work week.

At 4 a.m., two 18-year-old men were stabbed on a southbound No. 4 train at the East 116th Street Station at Lexington Avenue following a verbal dispute that escalated. One victim was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital and the other to Harlem Hospital. Both are expected to survive. Two suspects fled the station and no arrests have been made.

The suspects were headed from the Bronx to Manhattan and were described as black males about 5-foot-7. One was one wearing a yellow shirt and beige shorts, and the other was wearing a dark shirt and sneakers.

No arrests were made in either incident.

Three people, two women and a man, were shot at East 96th and Avenue M around 10 p.m. This group appears to have just left a party and were a few blocks away at the time. One woman was struck in the arm, while other was grazed on the leg. The man was shot in the back. All three were taken to Brookdale Hospital and are expected to survive.

A man suffered non life-threatening injuries when he was shot in the leg outside of a building on West 126th Street in Manhatanville around 2 a.m., and another male was wounded in the thigh on West 204th Street. He was taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.
