when something works, you do what you can to keep it going. that’s what restaurateur and chef charlie palmer decided after the huge success of his prix-fixe gem kitchen 22 – known for an exquisite $25 three-course gourmet menu. so much so, in fact, that he spread his wings uptown just a few days ago and opened sibling restaurant kitchen 82.
upper west-siders can throw their hands up in joy. the menu is exactly the same. literally. spring offerings include salmon two-ways with black pepper biscuit and caper cream and a black pepper-crusted tuna with julienne vegetables, wasabi cream and sweet soy. the decor too is in-line with the downtown digs. it has the air of a swedish sauna and is dotted with clean, minimalistic lighting. as if a hearty three course meal created by one of new york’s premiere chefs isn’t enough – there’s a plethora of inexpensive wines to go with.
how considerate of charlie to spread the love.
