Today the Harlem headquarters for presidential candidate Barack Obama was opened……by State Senator Bill Perkins and District Leaders Keith Lilly and Cordell Cleare at the 401 Malcolm X Boulevard (aka Lenox Avenue) at the northwest corner of the West 130th Street.

I also am keen to help – and to this end dropped by 401 to talk, buy a few Tshirts and banners and browse leaflets and positioning papers in preparation to joining a possible Rhode Island canvassing trip this coming weekend.
Imagine my disappointment to find an unbranded, unstaffed, dingy locked-up corner shop – when I had expected something like the Palantine campaign office out of Taxi Driver.
Other candidates have attracted negative media attention for campaign extravagances, but should this office not be more of an exciting political nerve-centre befitting NYC and Harlem?
