NY Celebs Expand Tourism Campaign

A year-old advertising program, Just Ask the Locals, was expanded Monday to include 22 new celebrities offering tips on what to do in the city.The city is betting a new cast of boosters—including Sean “Diddy” Combs, Matt Lauer and Ivanka Trump—will help it attract more visitors and make them feel welcome here.

A year-old advertising program, Just Ask the Locals, was expanded Monday to include 22 new celebrities offering tips on what to do in the city.

The poster campaign will appear at five terminals at John F. Kennedy International Airport, where JCDecaux, an international media company that has a contract with the Port Authority, is donating $5 million worth of advertising. The firm donated $5 million in airport advertising last year too. The ads target mainly overseas travelers.

The celebrity tips include ideas on where to eat, shop, and go out late at night. The previous campaign featured actors Robert De Niro, Julianne Moore and football player Tiki Barber. Some of the newcomers include Kevin Bacon, Debbie Harry and Lindsay Price.
