MSG teams up with the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development and Nike to recognize the approximately 1,000 adolescent girls who contributed to the league’s inaugural success.
Madison Square Garden (MSG) will be the site of the first annual Girls Middle School Basketball League Championship Game. New York City is home to 80 Beacon Community Centers, which are administered by the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD). The league consists of teams from 65 Beacons located throughout the five boroughs. The league is supported by Nike, which provides which provides uniforms, sneakers, space rental needs, development workshops, and logistical support. Approximately 1,000 adolescent girls participate in the league.
