$100,000 For Derek Jeter’s locker?

Great news for Ruben Rivera! After this season is done, he might actually be able to purchase Derek Jeter‘s locker as part of the expected $20 million memorabilia sell-off of the condemned Yankee Stadium.

No, it’s not the same locker Rivera was accused of stealing a bat and glove from in 2002, which resulted in his release from the team may be up for sale. That one was located at the team’s spring training facility in Tampa.

But if he wants the real thing, he better be prepared to pay. According to today’s Bloomberg News Article, Jeter’s locker, which has been his for 14 years, could fetch between $50,000 and $100,000

According to Bloomberg, two other expected auction items include:

Seats: These could sell for about $1,000 apiece and because they’re hard to remove and store, only 20,000 out of 56,000 are estimated to be put up for sale. Interesting fact: When the Stadium was renovated in ’73, a promotion sold seats for $7.50 and five empty cigarette packs. (Though I’m betting toting a crowbar to the Bronx at midnight would’ve gotten you one for free.)

Pieces of the white frieze that lines the top of the park: A small piece might go for $100, though I’m sure they’d sell them in larger hunks once they figure out some rich guy might pay a lot more to hang a section on the wall near his pool table.

Personally, I’d be interested to see what a Yankee Stadium urinal would go for once a bidding war between Wall Street’s masters of the universe begins. Same goes for that giant bat, though I hope that’d remain a part of the park/ball field plan that is scheduled to replace the Stadium
