Family Workshop – Stained Glass

Come learn about stained glass, how it was made, the patterns that were created and why it was important in Colonial and 19th century houses. Then make your very own stained glass suncatcher out of tissue paper, acetate, paint and string to hang in your home. Ages 6 and up with adult learning partner. Music at Morris-Jumel Concert Series

“To the Nines”: Music by Composers with Anniversaries in 2009. Music at Morris-Jumel’s resident ensemble Brooklyn Baroque (Andrew Bolotowsky, flute; David Bakamjian, cello; Rebecca Pechefsky, harpsichord) will present a program of composers with anniversaries in 2009, including Joseph Haydn (d. 1809), Franz Xaver Richter (b. 1709), and G. F. Handel (d. 1759). The concert will be performed in the Mansion’s 1765 octagonal music room. Tickets are $25 per person and $20 for members. Advanced registration is required. Call 212 923 8008

Lecture: The Forgotten Revolution

Writer and historian Warren Shaw will discuss how the Founding Fathers sought a country free of political parties. He will examine the lives of prominent New Yorkers such as Aaron Burr and discuss how these men were instrumental in creating our modern political system. FREE but advanced registration is required.
