We Need 80 People to Donate $100

Greetings!

Thanks to funds received from Council Members Inez Dickens and Robert Jackson, and donations from friends and supporters like you, our immediate emergency has been forestalled. However, we are not quite out of the woods yet. Can you help us to reach our goal and send a donation today?
Emergency Funds

Harlem Textile Works (HTW) a nonprofit organization with offices at 143rd Street and Amsterdam Avenue. Since its inception, Harlem Textile Works has successfully trained under-served African American and Latino youth in silkscreen printing techniques and art and textile design free of charge, while nurturing and cultivating within them an entrepreneurial spirit.

Our interns have graduated from institutions of higher education, secured positions in the design, fashion, and advertising industries, or pursued careers at museums and other cultural entities. HTW has recently expanded its fabric design and printing education programs to serve adults, both artists as well as those interested in learning more about the design field.

Like other businesses and institutions, non-profit organizations have been severely affected by the current economic downturn. For HTW, past funders have declined or delayed funding and new grants have been much more difficult to secure. Because of these changes, HTW needs to raise funds immediately to be able to cover ongoing operating expenses.

I would really appreciate it if you would consider making a donation of $100 by August 31st to HTW by sending a check or money order to HTW, P.O. Box 1090, College Station, New York, New York 10030 or online by going to http://www.harlemtextileworks.org/donate.html. Whatever you can give will be appreciated

Your tax deductible donation will help HTW continue to provide important service to area youth and adults. Tna k you for your support.

Sincerely yours,
Margaret Porter Troupe

  1. Would LOVE to donate an advertisement or story that might help you? I work for Amanda Smith of Open Range Magazine writing stories for her beautiful magazine and she LOVES helping others out with things that are unique. Oddly enough.. I think this fits the bill. Amanda Smith is known for helping others out and I already talked with her and she said she thought this would be great. She owns a local newspaper called The Glenrock Bird as well, so perhaps a story in there as well will help get it on the internet? Thanks and GOOD LUCK! Lisa

  2. Amanda Smith of the Open Range Magazine scammed our 501c3 nonprofit out of $2,400 plus last year. She and her nationally known “writer” Judi Colling who owns the Historic Higgins Hotel in Glenrock Wyoming never even showed us a proof of the magazine story or the calendar they promised to write/print for us. We gave them $2,400.00 of our sponsors’ money so they could print the calendars. We never even saw a proof of the calendar, let alone a calendar! The Open Range Magazine has an “F” rating with BBB. Several of us from South Dakota bought subscriptions to this fake magazine and never received a single issue. I had to go through our Attorney Generals Office to get a refund. And then the refund check bounced. Written on the Glenrock Bird newspaper account. I don’t think anyone needs this kind of “help.” After almost a year, Amanda called me a couple of weeks ago. She said, “how can we put this all behind us?” I told her $2,400 would about do it. She said “I know, but I can’t pay it all at once.” I told her to put a payment plan together and let me know what it is. She said she would send me an email. I have not received an email or a penny from her. If you can get a free ad or something out of her, go for it. But do not trust her with any of your money or your reputation.
