Crime
A serial rapist who has struck fear in the hearts of Harlem women has left plenty of DNA at his crime scenes, but it hasn’t matched anyone in the police database, sources said yesterday.
The sex fiend’s reign of terror on Sugar Hill and Hamilton Heights continued Monday when he raped his fourth victim at knifepoint since Aug. 1.
Cops have flooded the area with uniformed and plainclothes officers and are circulating a sketch of the rapist. They have also offered a $12,000 reward.

The Post may say that we are being “flooded” with uniformed officers, but I’ve never seen a single one on foot in this neighborhood, other than to walk from their cars to their giant outpost on Frederick Douglass. I would love to see patrols of uniforms out here after midnight – maybe it would deter this psycho from stalking the ladies up here.
I’m not asking for patrols day and night – but the jerk always attacks between midnight and 5am. A dozen officers on foot could save our women from becoming victims.
I know you are all concerned about the serial rapist on the prowl in Harlem.
Today, I spoke with the spokesman for Assemblyman Keith Wright on what community leaders are doing to hunt down the rapist.
Ben Rosen said his boss, Manhattan Borough President Scot Stringer, the New York Coalition of One Hundred Black Women, and the Guardian have united with the police track down the suspect.

Arrest After DNA Matches in Rapes in Manhattan
By RALPH BLUMENTHAL
A 21-year-old man stopped for questioning and DNA testing last week in four rapes in Upper Manhattan was arrested Sunday night after his DNA matched evidence from all four attacks, the police said.
The suspect was identified as Vincent Heyward, 21, of 281 Edgecombe Avenue, just blocks from where the last sexual assault took place, on Sept. 7, said Paul J. Browne, the chief spokesman for the New York New YorkPolice Department.
“He fit the description to a ‘T’ ”, Mr. Browne said. He said Mr. Heyward surrendered peacefully on Sunday night after six hours of negotiations with a relative.
