The Hearts of Gold 13th Annual Fall Fundraising Gala “It’s a Love Thing” took place at the Metropolitan Pavilion on Thursday November 12th. Hearts of Gold is a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to enhancing the lives of homeless mothers and their children.
Mothers receive crisis intervention counseling, career planning, and assistance with mammograms and prenatal appointments. Children receive diapers, formula, and warm winter coats among other goods and services. Additionally, Hearts of Gold plays a critical role in supporting families as they exit the shelter system.
The crowded Pavilion was a testament to the good work done by Hearts of Gold and its tireless founder Debra Koenigsberger. Debra, a former model, fashion stylist and Chelsea Boutique owner, started Hearts of Gold in 1996 and continues to be the lifeblood of the organization. The co-hosts of the Gala, CNN’s Soledad O’Brien and Law & Order: SUV’s Tamara Tunie, did a fabulous job keeping things in order. The Gala included a cocktail reception, silent auction, dinner, awards, dancing and a fashion show.
