Vaughn Harper and Friends in Harlem

Event

Legendary radio personality Vaughn Harper and a host of friends traveled uptown for a special celebrity toy drive benefitting Harlem Dowling West Side Center for Children and Family Service.  The event, which took place at Gospel Uptown, was hosted by WBLS-FM’s own Dr. Bob Lee, collected a wealth of donated toys and gift items for the numerous children and family members Harlem Dowling Service.  “We are truly thankful and deeply humbled by Mr. Harper’s act of kindness,” stated Dorothy Worrell, Harlem Dowling’s Executive Director. In addition to live entertainment a host of celebrity friend dropped by including Melba Moore and Alex Bugnon, paid the invovator of the quiet storm format a visit.  Celebrated radio jock Hal Jackson and his lovely wife Debbie were also in attendance.

Founded in 1836 as the Colored Orphan Asylum, Harlem Dowling is a non-for-profit multi-service agency providing out-of-home foster care, adoption, therapeutic placement, supportive housing for youth aging out of foster care, and other support services. Related services include, family preservation, HIV/AIDS services, family support services, and after school programs for children and families living in Central Harlem, Washington Heights, Southeast Queens and Far Rockaway.
