A Dialogue with Dominican Artists

NoMAA Artists’ Salon: A Dialogue with Dominican Artists

Monday, February 22, 6-8pm
Highbridge Recreation Center,
2301 Amsterdam Avenue at 174th Street

The communities of Washington Heights and Inwood are known to be home for many Dominicans in New York City – but what do we know about the Dominican artists from these neighborhoods?  The Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance hosts a dialogue with Dominican artists during our upcoming NoMAA Artists’ Salon.  In this event, we will learn about the work of various Dominican artists from the community and engage in a discussion on cultural identity and how their mediums reflect it, how their cultural productions are influenced by their surroundings uptown, and how their work helps shape the community.

Guest Panelists:

Ismael Checo, visual artist
Pepe Coronado, visual artist
Mino Lora, performing artist
Raquel Cepeda, writer/filmmaker
Raquel Manuela Colon, visual artist
Rider Ureña, visual artist

Moderator:

Sandra A. García Betancourt, Executive Director & CEO, NoMAA
