Civil rights leader Al Sharpton got into a spirited back and forth with TV talk show host Tavis Smiley on his radio show on Monday Feb 23 2010.
The dispute was over President Obama and whether or not he was going to have a Black Agenda. Tavis felt Sharpton and Charles Olgetree who was also on the phone weren’t pressing Obama enough.
Sharpton felt Tavis was off the mark for his approach and accused him of ‘distorting their words..

Barack Obama’s book, “The Audacity of Hope,” has a catchy title. It has a taste of bravery mixed with full confidence. You’ll find nothing Pollyanna concerning this. I won’t support every part he tells, but he’s our president, and then for me, he creates belief. Which could do more for just a region than any amount of backroom deals. Hope gives us energy, and energy sustains us through trying times. Boy, we’ve had them. I’m from West Texas, and I did not vote for Bush. When McCain ran against Obama, I was a citizen of Arizona, but I gave audacious hope a chance. The fight for progress and laying the foundations of prosperity is just not over. I have seen the quips of those that don’t believe Obama can do it. But step back a second. Would anyone have all of us fail in order to tarnish the star of an incumbent for whom they did not vote? Trying to keep our priorities straight, let’s work together with this president and build our future.
Travis is a HATER ; regarding our President he was from the first beginning of President Obama. I was a Big Fan of his show until January,2011 . I watched with everyone of his guests (he always made a polictical question feeding His dislike for the President, and every time he was ignored…because he guest have their OWN agenda regarding politics….and it was not Tavis personal agenda to discredited the President. He is a joke to black america that he has claimed to be the spoke person for US. he’s not my voice and not many other…so since you are a friend of his ..please relay this message…STOP CLAIMING TO BE THE VOICE OF AFICIAN AMERICANS…NOW! because our emenines are feeding on HIS personal attack on the Pesident. And I have written to his Show regarding my concerns on this matter.

TV Show anymore and I am speaking to All my friends that we were faithful fans of the Tavis Smiley Show …do not watch it and so for it is working..so now Tavis is trying to take it to the public media…shame!
