The members of the founding chapter of One Hundred Black Men, Inc. wish to extend our most heartfelt condolences to the family of one of our founders and past presidents, J. Bruce Llewellyn.
He played a pivotal role in our path of influence and success, and will be sorely missed.
A son of Harlem, Llewellyn was an academic achiever who developed into the quintessential entrepreneur with business interests that spanned the globe.Lawyer, businessman, soldier, husband and father are a few of the hats he wore during a rich life that was filled with accomplishments and ‘firsts.’ He is a shining example of the virtues that members of the One Hundred attempt to live up to every day: duty to self, community and nation.
Two years ago, we had the profound honor of saluting Mr. Llewellyn along with past presidents Judge Robert Mangum, Dr. Cyril Tyson, Arthur Barnes, Dr. Roscoe Brown, Jr., Luther R. Gatling and Paul T. Williams, Jr., Esq., at the our 45th Founders’ Day anniversary celebration.
His inspiration and ideals live on through our works, particularly with the Eagle Academies for Young Men where we focus on academic excellence, leadership and character development.

I was about 27 years old running my company, i was at a event that Mr. Llewllyn was attending, I got his attention to ask him a few questions about what I was going through after speaking with him, I was ready to conquer the world with my business his advice was deeply appreciated. I want to give my condolence to his family and thank you Mr. Llewllyn for taking time to speak and helping me understand the importants of running and operating a successfull business.
