Music

Chancellor of Soul, Mike Boone presents New York’s legendary radio personailty, Hal Jackson’s original WLIB radio theme opening for his ‘The House That Jack Built’ show in 1949 sung by the Whispers on Apollo Records……not to be confused with the Whispers on Solar Records in Los Angeles.

‘The House That Jack Built’ originated on WOOK in Washington D.C in the mid 40′s as a nighttime radio show. As a trailblazer in broadcasting and entertainment, Hal Jackson’s contribution helped broke down barriers for
African -Americans to participate in broadcasting, advertisement, sports and entertainment.

‘The House That Jack Built’ debuted in New York in 1949 on West 30th St in the same building that housed Columbia Records. Afterwards, Hal moved his show to the Skyline Ballroom in the Theresa Hotel in Harlem located on 125th St and 7th Ave, so he can be more in contact with his Harlem audience.

Hal later moved to WNJR in the mid 60′s where he broadcast his legendary Palisades Amusement Park shows live from the stage.
