The legendary auditorium on West 125th Street honored seven jazz, rock and soul legends on its new Walk of Fame, and the late, great James Brown led the way.
The music hall – which inherited its name from a 19th Century theatre – became renowned as the launch pad for a generation of R&B stars, including Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Ben E King.
First came a plaque for the Godfather of Soul, then ones for Ella Fitzgerald, Quincy Jones, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Patti LaBelle, Smokey Robinson and Little Richard.
