Arrested Development who has a new album out, “STRONG.” Currently on a U.S. tour, we will be arriving in New York, Monday June 26th with a performance at BB Kings on Tuesday, July 27th.
Just to give an update, Arrested Development got back together in 2000 and has been releasing albums out since touring mainly overseas.
You may be thinking why they are still relevant:
- Always had cross over appeal – Their 1st release, “The World is Changing” charted in the top 10 over in Japan on MTV International at the beginning of this year and now the current single, ”Greener” (a call to people to consider going “Green”) is making an impact on radio thanks to TOM JOYNER who invited them on to his Fantastic Voyage Cruise.
- Arrested Development performed at the ESSENCE Music Festival and was the only group to perform TWICE and the act to perform right before, energize the audience and bring out Ms. Janet Jackson
- Beyond a diverse album that speaks on current issues and topics of today (Trends, Haters, Africa, etc.), front man and Leader of the group, Speech continues to lecture and recently wrote a spiritual book, “What Is Success.”
- Did you know Arrested Development is the only Hip-Hop group that still holds the title of GRAMMY “Best New Artist” Award given in 1993 of which new rap artist, Drake may be up for that nomination this year.
- Average audience age: 21-25. Arrested Development is being rediscovered by the younger generation.
