Legend leaves Harlem to find Broken Grammy

John Legend left Grant’s Tomb in Harlem where he performed for Harlem Week to have his nephew break his 2005′s Best R & B Album Grammy for Get Lifted. One of John Legend‘s nephews owes Twitter — big time — for getting him out of trouble.

Legend made light of the situation when he posted a picture of the damaged golden trophy on his @JohnLegend Twitter page with a statement.

The speaker on the phonograph player snapped from the base. According to Legend, some of his followers suggested that his nephew needed stern discipline. But he did not seem upset. “It was truly an accident,” he responded. “I’m just gonna have to nephew-proof my apt. a little better.”

Legend’s dilemma caught the attention of the prestigious music awards program. Within an hour, the R&B star received a comforting tweet from @TheGRAMMYs. “Don’t worry, we can send a replacement GRAMMY Awards to you,” a representative for the organization replied.

Legend joked that the reply from @TheGRAMMYs was the bailout plan his nephew needed. Plus, he still has five other Grammys — no sweat.
