Harlem Dowling’s Annual Harlem In Hamptons

Hamptons Best Turned Out to Support 5th Annual Fundraiser.

Everyone loves hearing about what is going on in The Hamptons – the parties and celebrity sightings.  However, in the midst of all the parties and upscale socializing, many of the activities that take place are for worthy causes.  Take the annual HARLEM IN THE HAMPTONS event.

Each year Harlem Dowling’s Board President Jaye Smith of East Hampton, NY opens up her home and heart for an annual benefit to bring awareness and recognition to the outstanding work Harlem Dowling does on behalf of children and their families.

This year, which marked Harlem in the Hampton’s 5th anniversary, celebrity chef Enzo Lentini donated his time and talent. The renowned cook and former owner of Opus restaurant in Manhattan catered the entire event.  Attendees enjoyed a relaxing, fun-filled evening of food and fun as well as live music from up and coming artist Glenton Davis. Former cast member of the Soprano actor Federico Castellucci also dropped by to show his support.

Founded in 1836 as Colored Orphan Asylum by Quaker matrons Anna Shotwell and Mary Murray, Harlem Dowling is one of New York’s leading non-for-profit multi-service agency providing out-of-home foster care, adoption, therapeutic placement, supportive housing for youth aging out of foster care, and other support services. Related services include, family preservation, HIV/AIDS services, family support services, and after school programs for children and families living in Central Harlem, Washington Heights, Southeast Queens and Far Rockaway.

On Thursday, November 4, 2010 in honor of National Adoption Month, Harlem Dowling will host its annual 2010 Dinner Gala, at Bridgewaters, 11 Fulton Street. The festive affair will honor the agency’s 174th anniversary. For additional information, please call Wanda Collington at (212) 749-3656 Ext. 3070 or via e-mail at info @ harlemdowling.org.
