Forty-seven years after the historic March on Washington, Reverend Al Sharpton, President of the Harlem based National Action Network and leaders from his over 47 National Action Network chapters across the country. Along with heads of progressive organizations, unions and clergy, they will lead a mass rally and march in Washington, DC on Saturday, August 28, 2010 to RECLAIM THE DREAM.
The rally will start at 11:00 a.m. at Dunbar High School, followed by a march to the King Memorial. Joining NAN will be a cross-section of organizations and principals including, but not limited to: National Action Network (NAN); United States Education Secretary, Arne Duncan, Martin Luther King, III, President, Center for Nonviolent Social Change, Inc.; Ed Schultz, Television and radio show host; Tom Joyner, The Tom Joyner Morning Show & Reach Media; Marc Morial, President of the National Urban League; Benjamin Todd Jealous, President of NAACP; Melanie L. Campbell, President of National Coalition on Black Civic Participation and Convener of the Black Women’s Roundtable; representatives from Media Matters, and many other religious groups, labor unions, and organizations. While across town at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial the conservative tea party members and TV host Glenn Beck will attempt to hijack the dream, at the same time civil rights activists will convene at Dunbar High School to shed light upon key issues that have diminished the dream.
As we prepare to mark the 47th anniversary of his “I Have a Dream” speech on this date, Glenn Beck and others are expected to push for the expansion of states’ rights – the exact antithesis of the civil rights movement and Dr. King’s legacy.

Al Sharpton and his confederates are interested in one thing only, self-aggrandizement. He has paid no attention to what Glenn Beck has said. Sharpton has no honor or integrity which has been proven over and over again.
How sad. God bless Dr. Martin Luther King’s heart. If he were alive today, he would be so very ashamed at the author of this article for spreading such blatant lies and misconceptions regarding who Glenn Beck is and what he truly stands for. Please, do not believe what you have read here because it spreads falsehoods. I hope you will come to The Restoring Honor Rally if you have a moment and see for yourself how wonderful, open and honest Glenn Beck really IS. Alveda King, the Dr.’s neice, will be speaking to us too! She is amazing and exudes nothing but love and peace. Glenn has had her on his show before. As to the comment regarding State’s Rights, it is also false. Far from being the “antithesis” to civil rights, it is imperative to them! Racism is such a thing of the past but there are some among you who refuse to let it expire it seems. Don’t believe everything you read. Come, join us and learn, first hand, how really nice and accepting and loving we are. We are expecting about half a million Patriots. It’s about being AMERICAN.

What a shame that Sharpton contends he is a reverend. He uses the King Legacy to make money and extend his influence. Disgraceful.
Im really amazed at the responses on here. I believe someone said that the Teaparty exudes love and peace? Is that before or after the pictures of our President with a bone though his nose? Or could it be those same folks who insist our President isnt fom the United States? Or is it comparing President Obama to Hitler? I could go on and on but I wont. The very fact that you people think that acism is something “some people” refuse to let go of is indicative of your thought process…totally clueless. Do I agree with everything about President Obamas decisions? Definatley not, but I find it so sad that you people refuse to give him respect as our President.
