This piece was created so that this act is not repeated and to honor the men and women who lost their lives during the attack. On Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, I was on 116th Street and Lexington Avenue in Harlem when I noticed folks around me looking downtown. When I turned my head to look I saw smoke in the sky, seconds later, someone in a trunk yelled, “a jet airliner had crashed into the World Trade Center towers.” In complete disbelief, I went home turned on the tv to hear that knife-wielding hijackers had crashed two airliners into the World Trade Center, toppling its twin 110-story towers.
Where were you?
