From Harlem to South Africa With Love

We all harvest yards and yards of extra yarn.  Share your stash with the orphans children of KasCare in South Africa.  HNA will continue our social responsibility project to help KasCare reach their goals of 3000 blankets, in addition to 5000 garments- sweaters and hats.

Join Harlem Needle Arts at our monthly gathering to reach the goal that cares. You can make your 8″x8″ squares and drop them off at our meeting site.  OR we can make our squares together.

The tight yet flowing stitch gauge works best.  Cut a 8″x8″ piece of cardboard and use it as your template for creating squares. Leave about 14″ of yarn at the beginning and end of each square.  The extra yarn will be used to help join the squares.  Also remember to use bright colors/patterns.

There are 1500 active email addresses in the HNA database, if each person made at least 5 squares we would have 7500 squares, or hats, or sweaters. WOW get to stitchin’.

Note: From Harlem to South Africa with Love is not a workshop.  Knowledge of basic knit and crochet is encouraged.
