On November 17, The New York Helmsley Hotel was the site of a celebration of a historic partnership between Cole Media, Inc. and BET.com. Some of the most talented media, finance, and marketing people in the industry, came out to see the premiere of Keeping It Rich with Sakina, the original web show hosted by award-winning finance journalist, adjunct professor, and entrepreneur, Sakina Spruell Cole.
Lateef Sarnor, director of sales development and client services for BET Networks shared details about the 4-part series more than 75 guests who mixed and mingled while discussing deals and wealth-building tips over cocktails. Proving that wealth and luxury go hand-in-hand, Jocelyn Taylor, CEO of JRT Multimedia and former publisher of UPTOWN Magazine was the featured guest, of this brand-new web series.
“Sakina’s show is intelligent, thought provoking and urgent; especially in these economic times,” said Ms. Taylor, who attended last night’s event.
Sakina, who has written many articles for Black Enterprise, received accolades from its Senior Vice President and Editor-In-Chief of BlackEnterprise.com, Alfred A. Edmond, Jr. “Sakina is one of the best financial journalists out there. I’m not surprised at her success.”
Celebrity photographer Terrence Jennings, captured the industry leaders in attendance such as Sekou Writes, editor-in-chief of SimplyRides.com, an online automotive magazine geared toward affluent multicultural women; Dayna Gilliard, corporate accounts director, of ESSENCE magazine; and Darryl Dye, national director of sales at NBC’s the Griot.com

Various episodes of the series will highlight candid conversations about money to help viewers define and live a “rich” lifestyle and will feature experts on topics such as insurance, mortgages and consumer credit, as well as, “Who’s Keeping it Rich?” episodes. In these episodes, Sakina will delve into “rich” conversations with high net-worth individuals who are living their own definition of a rich lifestyle.
