Henry Grimes is a jazz legend, we like everything he does, even the holiday drawing above. You can check him out live for the holidays at The Stone.
Think we’re joking about this jazz legend? Here’s Henry Grimes playing with Gerry Mulligan, Art Farmer and Dave Bailey.
The band includes Henry Grimes (bass, violin), Marc Ribot (guitar), Mary Halvorson (guitar), Chad Taylor (drums), and John Zorn (alto saxophone). In addition, Marc Ribot and his trio, plus 2 play a free ritual jam leading to a midnight rendition of Albert Ayler’s masterpiece “Bells.”
There’s an early set at 7 p.m. (separate from the $4O admission). The $4O set includes traditional New Year’s Eve champagne toast.
The Stone is a small room with very limited capacity, so please arrive early and wait in line patiently and quietly so as not to disturb residential neighbors. The Stone is on the northwest corner of Ave. C and 2nd St.
