Here are weekend film picks for your viewing pleasure:
Friday, February 4th, check out two short films from Africa followed by a discussions: The first film “Lamokowang”, is focused on a new path for young African cinema, a pointed mixture of fiction and documentary into the future of Africa. Her other film is “Jazz Mama” that tells the story of rape victims Africa, their strength and faith, against the odds. A discussion will follow with director of both films Petna Ndaliko Katondolol.
On Saturday, February, 5th, will screen “The Cool World,” a documentary about street life in Harlem will be followed by conversation and Q&A with Sharifa Rhodes-Pitts and Ronnie Clanton and a short reading from “Harlem is Nowhere” with author, Sharifa Rhodes-Pitts. After the movie, viewers can participate in a discussion with the filmmaker and its lead actor.
