Apollo Music Café Returns With Artists Ki Ki and Tess (video)

Following an impressive debut, the world famous Apollo Theater is kicking-off the second installment of its brand new music series, Apollo Music Café, celebrating Women’s History Month. Sponsored by Heineken, Apollo Music Café showcases some of the most creative artists in a series of innovative and avant-garde performances. The Music Café series, which premiered this February and runs through June 2011, expands the Apollo experience beyond the legendary Main Stage into its intimate third floor Soundstage. Music Café is the first series of shows to take place in the Theater’s newly renovated Soundstage, designed and transformed to create a lounge atmosphere complete with a bar and intimate tables near the stage.

Ki Ki and Tess are the ultimate girl power duo. These two innovative female vocalists striving to go against the grain of traditional R&B, will pay tribute to the trendsetting, legendary female performers who’ve paved the way for them. The talented duo along with photographer Katie Piper, will debut a visual homage to some of the prominent women who have inspired Ki Ki & Tess along their musical journeys as artists. They selected 10 iconic images and Ki Ki & Tess transformed, channeling the spirit, the POWER, the essence of the artists The result: A series of 10 black & white portraits, exclusively featuring Ki Ki & Tess. The exhibit will be displayed in conjunction with the spectacular performance on March 7th.
