Women’s contributions run the gamut in Harlem, from success with everyday matters to advancements in business, the arts, etc., but often times their achievements are left in the end notes of history. This month (and throughout the year at Harlem World), women’s lives are the main story. Participate in the events below and read about the women who have made a difference…- Walters World: March is Women’s History Month. How appropriate to present a dance work that focuses on the social, political, emotional and psychological experiences of women. The nathantrice/RITUALS project-by-project dance theater in association with Kumble Theater presents the Recognizing Women Project. The performances begin Thursday March 3 and run through Sunday March 6 at Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts located on the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University.
Following an impressive debut, the world famous Apollo Theater is kicking-off the second installment of its brand new music series, Apollo Music Café, celebrating Women’s History Month on March 7th 9 pm.
Great Jazz Vocalists – Ethel Waters. Hosted by Father Peter F. O’Brien. Performance footage including her Emmy award nominated episode of Route 66, “Goodnight Sweet Blues.” TUE, 3/8, 7:00 pm at the Mayseles Cinema.
