The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) held protest today outside the UniverSoul Circus tent…
…this year located at Mill Pond Park in the Bronx. Protesters cited that the UniverSoul Circus does not possess an exhibitor license from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and that the Circus leased animal exhibitors have failed to meet minimal federal standards for care of animals used in exhibition as established in the Animal Welfare Act (AWA). Mill Pond Park is located at 50 East 1450th Street , ( 149th Street & Exterior Street, across from the Gateway Center Mall). UniversSoul is scheduled to perform at this location until March 27th of this month. John Jairo and his Tigers from Ecuador is one of the featured acts. UniverSoul is a highly interactive combination of circus arts, theater, and music that spans genres including Pop, Classic R&B, Latin, Hip Hop, Jazz and Gospel. It embraces and celebrates the unique and familiar aspects of pop culture globally by bringing them center stage with a cast of international performers. UniverSoul Circus is rated as one of the top three circuses in America along with Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey and Cirque de Soleil.
