ESSENCE/R&B Star NYC Auditions This Weekend

ESSENCE and R&B music veteran Perri “Pebbles” Reid kicked off their R&B Star competition in Atlanta with a celebrity packed fête that included a soulful performance by Chrisette Michele and attended by Steve Harvey, Jermaine Dupri, Cynthia Bailey, music producer Bryan Michael Cox and more!

On March 20th, aspiring R&B vocalists started logging on to ESSENCE.com/RBStar to enter to win a one-year artist management contract with music industry veteran Kevin Liles’ KWL Enterprises, a feature in an upcoming issue of ESSENCE and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hit the stage for a featured performance during the 2011 Essence Music Festival (July 1st-3rd in New Orleans).

Celebrity Judges: Pebbles, Bryan Michael Cox, Q Parker from 112, Power 105′s Cherry Martinez

Surprise celebrity judges—including Pebbles, Liles and a local radio personality—will attend the audition. Judges will choose six contestants who will later participate in an artist boot camp training. ESSENCE.com readers will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite contestant. Three finalists will be chosen to take the final journey to New Orleans to the ESSENCE Music Festival for various appearances where attendees and ESSENCE.com readers will cast their votes for the final winner. By process of elimination the winner will be announced Sunday at the Convention Center and will offer an exclusive performance on Sunday night. ESSENCE.com started launching webisodes of the contest on March 28th.
