On Sunday June 26th, 2011 the Senator Chuck Allen, III Scholarship Fund will award three college-bound seniors $500 prizes for their academic achievements, and submitted essays. Recipients have chosen to study in Accounting, Law, Urban and Public Administration as studied by the late Senator Chuck Allen. He died in 2008 after a long struggle with kidney cancer.
The presentation will take place during the 10AM service at St. Philip’s Episcopal church located at 204 West 134th Street, New York City. This year’s awards are: Stacey Boulware, High School of Hospitality Management, New York City, Aryana Colon of Amistad-Elm City High School in New Haven, CT. and Emanuelle Fosu of A. Philip Randolph High, School, Harlem NY.
Awards will be presented by the Hon. Margaret Jackson, President of Martin Luther King, Jr. Democrats, New York Council Person, Inez Dickens and Syracuse grad Mrs. Pilar Sanders, entrepreneur, actress and cosmetics conglomerate owner. A luncheon with students, well wishers and presenters will immediately follow the awards ceremony. This is the second year the scholarship has awarded deserving students in the tri-state area to pursue higher education.
