Harlem’s Bill Perkins A Sponsor Of The Same Sex Marriage Bill

Harlem World Magazine would like to commend State Senator Bill Perkins for his vote to legalize gay marriage in New York. The bill passed without any Republican sponsors and 19 Democrats.

Harlemites flocked to Marcus Garvey Park Saturday to show their pride and celebrate the historic legalization of gay marriage in the state – despite the vocal opposition of some local church leaders.

But Joseph Tolton, 43 the pastor at Harlem’s Rehoboth Temple Christ Conscious Church, where the congregation is predominantly LGBT, told in DNAInfo, that he was overjoyed with the legislation’s passage.
