A sexual predator is on the loose in Harlem after attacking a 12-year-old girl in an elevator within the 28th Precinct (a Command Center within an apartment complex), law enforcement sources said. The suspect set on the victim at the apartment building in Central Harlem on June 21 at 6:25 p.m. A surveillance photo of the suspect has been released (pictured).
He allegedly followed her into an elevator and sexually assaulted her. It’s also not clear if the girl lives in the building.
There was no immediate indication that the assault was related to the four women assaulted in Inwood, Washington Heights and the Upper West Side in one weekend last month, sparking a wave of fear in the neighborhoods.
The suspect is described as being a black male between 25 and 30 years old, about 5’11″ inches tall, with a medium build, wearing a striped golf shirt and blue jeans.
Anyone with information about the case is being asked to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-577-TIPS, by texting TIP577 to CRIMES, or by going to NYPDCrimeStoppers.com.
