Jeffrey a Harlem World Magazine Youth Intern (pictured) preparing his t-shirt entry during the opening night event at the Learn To Earn office as part of the Harlem Children’s Zone T-Shirt design contest.
Harlem World: What are you learning from the Harlem Children Zone T-Shirt design contest?
Jeffrey: I’m learning a lot about business.
HW: Were there any famous people at the Harlem Children Zone T-Shirt design contest?
J: Yes, Ms. Info on WBLS, DJ Clark Kent, rapper Talib Kweli and designer Jeffrey Staples.
HW: Where was the event located?
J: This event took place at Learn To Earn at 300 W. 134th Street at Nicholas Avenue (aka 8th Avenue) in Harlem, New York.
HW: Did you compete against peers that you knew? If so, what did that feel like?
J: Yes, I did but it’s not really competitive like that, because that’s the point of the contest.
HW: How long did it take you to come up with a design for your T-Shirt?
J: It took me about 3 to 4 days, I don’t really think about the idea it just comes to me when I see something, hear something or when I’m talking to my friends.
HW: When is the last day of the contest? And how can someone vote for your T-Shirt?
J: The Last day of the contest is August 2011 and they can vote here.
