Harlem’s CCNY Students To Floor Solar-Powered Home Design Competition in DC (video)

The Solar Roof Pod is The City College of New York in Harlem entry in the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon, a collegiate competition to design, build and operate a solar home.

The home is a modular structure that can be assembled on the roofs of commercial and residential buildings, it is the only one of the 20 finalists designed for high-density urban centers like Harlem, New York.  More than 100 students from the The City College of New York’s Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture and Grove School of Engineering produced the structure.

The slideshow above are photos from the completed building, that was located on an outdoor plaza of the Marshak Science Center, before the structure was moved to the Solar Decathlon finals in Washington. To learn more about the project, visit http://ccnysolardecathlon.com/.
