Let’s Welcome Harlem’s New Precinct Commander And Let Him Know Your Issues And Concerns

Harlem World Magazine welcomes the 28th Precinct’s new commander, Capt. Kevin Williams. During yesterdays community meeting at Touro College residents greeted him with their concerns in his first meeting with the community.

In an article by DNAinfo Williams blamed the problems on youth crews, a phenomena which began gaining traction in Harlem. The crews are less organized than more established gangs, but were responsible for 35 percent of the non-fatal shootings in Harlem, according to police.

Williams reminded residents that Harlem is much safer than it used to be. But that “…this is a different place than it was 15 or 20 years ago.”

He told residents, “I need the information. If I don’t have the information, I can’t act.”

We want a safer and better place for all Harlemites, from the east, to the west, the north, the south and central Harlem. The only way to make this happen everyone has to assist Capt., Williams. You can do this by:

Mail: Police Precinct #28, 2271-89 8th Ave., New York, NY, 10027

Or Call him at: (212) 678-1611

Or go to our Harlem World Magazine Facebook page here and share your thoughts.
