Vy Higginsen, Phyllis Yvonne Stickney, Vaughn Harper, and Assemblyman Herman D. Farrell, Jr. were among the luminaries and dignitaries on hand on Thursday as West Harlem Group Assistance (WHGA), one of Harlem’s first community development corporations, marked its 40th anniversary at Aaron Davis Hall. The event, which was hosted by broadcaster Dyana Williams, celebrated WHGA’s four decades of housing development and neighborhood preservation efforts in West and Central Harlem . Guests included Gregory Generet; Tamara Tunie; NYC Comptroller John Liu; WHGA Exec. Director Donald Notice; event Chair Maurice Coleman, Sr. VP of Bank of America. It was a very friendly atmosphere, and the evening was capped with Ray, Goodman, and Brown closing the night.
The Rev. Dr. Calvin O. Butts III, senior pastor of Abyssinian Baptist Church and founder and chair of Abyssinian Development Corporation, taped a very gracious (and often humorous) message especially for the occasion.
