Thank you Rodney.

Rodney Carroll: He was a man who dared to speak truth to power whether it was as a union rep or a community activist. Rodney and I had a long friendship that spanned much of the life of his two older sons. During many of the years that I ran the Harlem Y youth programs, Rodney served as a parent activist who engaged other parents in helping the YMCA become more responsive to community needs. Rodney’s indefatigable workstyle, and indomitable spirit made him an exceptional advocate and ally. My wife, KD, got to know and respect Rodney through his middle son who was a beloved student in her computer class at the Y. Over time, Rodney met my mom, my adult daughter, my grandkids, and my 7 year old son. He had a way of making everyone feel like family. My mom died on November 19th four years ago. Sadly, I now have another reason to remember this fateful date. Knowing Rodney was a joy and an honor – we’ll never forget him. We send our condolences to his wife, his sons and all those who loved him. Charles T, KD and Fernando

Charles,
Thank you for sharing. I knew Rodney for only a year and change and yet know that what you say I experienced. I don’t think people like Rodney comes into our lives by accident. I know he came into my life to show me how it’s done, how to give, how to be generous and be yourself. Sounds simple, but for for some – that can be tough.
Like Jordans jump shot, Rodney made it seem easy.
Thanks,
Daniel

RIP Rodney. I knew Rodney for about 2.5 years. Emilio and my son Zion went to pre-school together. Rodney had always had the one thing a bunch of little kids loved GUM! I will never forgot those warm summer days when Rodney arrived at pick up. 5 or 6 little humans running up to him screaming RODNEY! GUM! We will always remember Rodney.
My thoughts and prayers are with Shirely & Emilio.
My condolences to Rodney family. Rodney had something about him that could just brighten your cloudy day-His Beautiful Smile and spirit. He touched many lives and will be sorely miss. May God Bless and comfort the Carroll family.
