The Candlelight Carol Festival, one of the long-standing Christmas traditions at The Riverside Church, celebrates the beauty of the season through song. The Festival features music from around the world for choir, carillon, harp, organ, handbells, flute, and viola; as well as carols sung by congregation and choir, culminating in the community singing of “Silent Night” in the glorious gothic Nave, illuminated by a sea of candle flames held by Riversiders. Music will include traditional songs from the countries of Georgia and Nigeria, as well as selections by composers William Mathias, Conrad Susa, Moses Hogan, Camille Saint-Saëns and Sergei Rachmaninoff.
The Festival will also include a rainbow of Christmas music as five choirs—The Riverside Choir, Soloists, and Instrumentalists, The Riverside Chamber Singers, The Riverside Inspirational Choir, The Riverside Ringers and The Riverside Children’s Choir—come together for the program.
