Detail taken today in front of the Victoria 5 Theatre designed in 1917 by Thomas W. Lamb on 125th Street situated between Adam Clayton Powell and Frederick Douglas Blvds.,. The Victoria 5 is a landmark we really love, here’s a link to a piece we did on the Theatre history here.

I can’t place it. I grew up and lived in Harlem from 1946 – 1964. Was it a theater then? Is that between 7th and 8th avenues? I’m not sure of the new avenue names.
vrgnfr,
That’s right 7th (Adam Clayton Powell) and 8th avenues (Frederick Douglass). It’s on the same side of the street as the Apollo.

As soon as you mentioned it, it all clicked into place. In fact I saw “movies” there as a child. There was also another “movie” theater around the corner on 7th Avenue (Adam Clayton Blvd) One was a Loews and one was an RKO.
