Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, Council Member Melissa Mark-Viverito, and 900 volunteers will join City Year New York on Monday for a day of service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. City Year, a national organization that unites teams of young people for a year of service in high-need urban schools, mobilizes its 2,000 corps members nationwide and thousands more volunteers each Martin Luther King Jr. Day for service in the community. City Year considers the holiday “A Day On, Not A Day Off,” for its staff and corps members.
City Year New York will have over 250 staff and corps members working with an expected 650 corporate and community volunteers to will complete 35 community and school beautification projects at PS 96, PS 7, NYCHA Wagner Houses, as well as host a youth anti-violence conference in partnership with the office of Council Member Melissa Mark-Viverito.
City Year New York will mobilize over 900 volunteers for a Day of Service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
