  1. I really do not like these kinds of pictures- nor did I enjoy the last photo of the man lying in the street asleep- REALLY HW!!!, these pictures are not funny yet pretty sad coming from a magazine representing Harlem- it tells me we dont have to worry about other people dumping on us we’ll print it and allow the world to lol at these people who obviously need help.

    Really sad.

  2. Sundra,

Thank you for responding, we here at Harlem World agree that the photo is not funny.

In the title and in the caption we made sure not to say anything about him, but we do talk about the context in which we found him, and commentary on Harlem’s lack of affordable housing.

Thank you for your comments, keep them coming.

  3. Hi Sundra,

Do you think I take these photos because they are funny or condescending? I’m glad it made you mad, I’m glad you were upset. That’s what I wanted you to be! I’m upset that this human being is forced to sleep in such a place. I’m upset that the city and state allow Stop and Frisk. Are they doing it in Tribeca?

I am glad you commented. I’m glad you are mad. Now what are you going to do about that man on the bench? Stay angry, alert and ask your councilman, your borough president, your mayor why doesn’t this man have a place to stay?

Glad your read it. And really so pleased it made you angry. Stay Angry!

  4. Walter…job well done. I actually was hoping for this response. Its just that the picture really makes me sad. I will make noise about it to people I know- and I am praying that they care enough to help do something, as they have the connections.

    GOD Bless,
    Sundra
