The annual Costume Institute Gala at the MET in New York is the “Super Bowl of Fashion,” and this year as in others, Harlem style was in the house (or should we say museum). Fashion’s finest collided with Hollywood’s A-list at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art to honor renowned designers Miuccia Prada and Elsa Schiaparelli. Dramatic dresses, which were paired with feather accents, see-through lace and overwhelming trains, seemed to be the trend.
It’s a night to take risks, make a statement and get noticed, Alicia Keys toe out boots tux dress was a great example. While hubby’s Swizz Beatz styled in a felt two piece suit, looking every bit oo7.
Of course, everyone was talking about Beyoncé in her stunning Givenchy haute couture gown, but little sister Solange Knowles definitely had her own moment at the annual event. Looks like Harlem glamour has wore off on Rachel Roy (Dame Dash ex), when Knowles was seen in her bold peplum-structured canary-yellow gown, with minimal accessories, and wore her hair in a sea of curls reminiscent of Diana Ross.
