Whitney Houston Tribute by Chaka Khan At The Apollo

The Spring Gala is a spectacular night where the biggest stars come together to celebrate iconic performers who have become Apollo Legends. It’s the ultimate Apollo experience where world visitors and Harlem residents alike join a celebratory and energetic exchange for one special event.

Stand-up comedian/actor Sinbad hosts the Gala Benefit Concert and Awards Ceremony on June 4th, which features the induction of multi-award winning singer/songwriter Lionel Richie and the late, great Etta James into the prestigious Apollo Legends Hall of Fame. Danny Glover (The Color Purple, Dreamgirls, Honeydripper) and MacAndrews & Forbes CEO Ronald Perelman are presenting Lionel Richie’s Hall of Fame induction with a special appearance by acclaimed gospel duo Mary Mary.

The Apollo Theater will also pay tribute to Whitney Houston, Don Cornelius and Nick Ashford – three talented performers who contributed immensely to the entertainment and music industry.

Proceeds from the Spring Gala will benefit the full range of the Apollo’s year-round activities including performing arts presentations, family and educational programs, and the development of new work by emerging artists.
