Last night, singer/songwriter Harlem lady Alicia Keys, Glenn Ligon and Thelma Golden (above) from the Studio Museum in Harlem were guests of honor at The Gordon Parks Centennial Gala.
This year marks the centennial of the birth of Gordon Parks, the famous Harlem inspired photographer, filmmaker, musician, and writer, and guests like Harlem resident Fab 5 Freddy celebrated.

Deeply saddened and SHOCKED that a Gordon Parks Centennial Gala would take place and snubbed David Parks, the only surviving son of Gordon, Sr.. David also produced the movie, “Super Fly” and attended the 2009 Black Press All Star Awards in Harlem, his first visit back to Harlem in a considerably long time. I hope that future attempt to honor Gordon, Sr will reflect on his full contributions.
