ANOTHER FOE is jumping into the race against Rep. Charlie Rangel — a political action committee that’s pledging to spend big bucks to oust the veteran Harlem Democrat.
“Campaign For Our Future” is dropping the first of a wave of 100,000 pieces of mail to the voters eying a crowded Democratic primary field, the Daily News has learned.
“Sorry, Charlie,” snarks the mailer, which plays up a kerfuffle over whether President Obama wants the scandal-plagued Rangel back in Congress for a 22nd term. “Barack Obama isn’t supporting Charlie Rangel. Why should we? It’s time for new leadership, fresh ideas and a new voice for our community in Washington.”
The business-backed Campaign For Our Future plans to blast out English- and Spanish-language mailers and make robocalls. The group also is allotting hundreds of thousands of dollars to boot one of Rangel’s rivals, former White House aide Clyde Williams.
He isn’t the only Rangel foe getting outside help.
The Texas-based Campaign For Primary Accountability, an anti-incumbent outfit, is pushing state Sen. Adriano Espaillat.
