A mobile testing unit will be at all three Iris House locations in Harlem on June 27, with free Metro cards offered to everyone who takes the HIV test. Hot 97’s street team will be on site between 12 noon – 2 PM at the Iris House West Side location.
An estimated 1.2 million Americans are living with HIV, and one in five (20%) do not know they are infected. The New York City Department of Health reports that, as of 2009, over 107,000 people in New York City are living with HIV/AIDS. The Magic Johnson Foundation is proud to support the Iris House in its testing efforts and ongoing work. MJF and its partners are encouraging communities to “take the test and take control” on National HIV Testing Day.
