Atlanta’s Antoine Tate, of Mass Appeal Pro Training by Antoine, gives the basics on staying hydrated this summer.
With a counter full of juicers and blenders from Omega, including their masticating style, Vert 330HD Juicer that can juice wheatgrass, greens and everything in between. Its my favorite juicer because the juice it squeezes keeps fresh for up to 72 hours due to the lack of oxygen created by the ultra slow grind, all of which makes the process convenient and less time consuming in my efforts to remain well hydrated and properly nourished in the summer heat. But as pointed out by Atlanta fitness guru, Antoine Tate, of Mass Appeal Pro Training by Antoine, there’s more to it than plenty of fresh squeezed juice!
A professional trainer to a plethora of professional athletes and celebrities for the past 26 years, Tate suggests we remain cognizant of our water intake levels especially in the summer heat. He adds to that the importance of salt.
“The body actually needs salt,” explains the guru of fitness. “Making sure to get enough water and sodium while active outdoors in the summer heat is a crucial to your health.”
Tate recommends drinks such as Powerade and Gatorade for their sodium and potassium levels.
Recognizing the effects of too much sodium and high blood pressure, which is a common among concern especially among African American, Tate recommends to all of his clients the use of sea salt on food, versus iodized salt.
“But in the heat the body needs potassium and bananas wont do it for blood-type B. But Powerade does and to some it’s even less syrupy than Gatorade, which others prefer for it’s strength,” he explains.
Tate also cautions the need for parents to be aware of the salt and water intake of their children in the summer’s heat.
“Sweating cools the body off but the fluid needs to be replaced. As much as you sweat out, you should also be taking in fluids,” says Tate.
