The 3rd Annual Make-up Show NYC was a blast!
Color was everywhere! Keeping in parallel with this season and next seasons forecasted color palette, there were lots of oranges, pinks, less traditional colors such as greens, yellows and blues for eye, lip and nails.
Sponsored by Jones magazine a division of the Northstar group, the Make-up Show NYC featured over 60 top pro-focused brands sponsors such as Make-up For Ever, Crown Brush, Stila and Smashbox. Additionally, the show featured industry companies including MAC, Embryolisse USA and Kevin Aucoin.
“The show itself was amazing.”
As I had the opportunity to peruse the booths consumers were flocking to booths to make their next trendy cosmetic buy at discounted prices while being advised of new trends and techniques for Fashion Week 2013. The show itself was amazing. The music was pumping, the crowd excited and the visual display was exceptional!
Smashbox has become one of the more popular make-up brands used among celebrities and general consumers. I had the esteemed pleasure of meeting and speaking with Smashbox’s global director of pro lead artistry Ms. Lori Taylor. Ms. Taylor was gracious enough to take time out give me a thorough overview of the Smashbox brand and the varied number of products available within the collection. I inquired the products available to people of color and Ms. Taylor informed me the brand continues to work to expand their collection to discuss the needs of women of color there One of the more pressing questions I had for Ms. Taylor related to future Smashbox making use to expand the collection of products of color
The most popular of the product assortment is the Smashbox primer! Women of all skin types and colors seem to flock to the Smashbox vending station to get their hands on primer and the color primer!
Laura Jane a national artist demonstrated the wonderful effects of the primer on my skin. As someone who doesn’t really wear make-up, I found the primer to be so much more than a buffer between the skin and the intended make-up application. It completely softens your skin and provides for the balance in the color in your skin. I was quite pleased with the primer and highly recommend it to you cosmetic fans.
Making several stops I had the opportunity to check in with the Powder Group (TPG). TPG brings artists together while providing access to the most relevant industry info, career guidance and promotional opportunities. Speaking with Tricia Dalton –Brush a product specialist for TPG she walked me through all the products explaining the competitive advantages for each. Specifically, she highlighted the popular TPG clear convertible make-up bag kit as consumer and industry professional favorite as there is literally a compartment for everything!
