Spike Lee and son
Spike Lee’s new joint NYC Red Hook Summer opens in theaters on Friday August 10th. The movie premiered at the DGA Theater in Manhattan on Monday night. Red Hook Summer tells the story of Flik Royale, a sullen young boy from middle-class Atlanta who has come to spend the summer in the housing projects of Red Hook.

Red Hook Summer actors Nate Park, James McBride and James Ransone were in attendance. Also showing their support for Lee’s new movie was Mike Tyson, Gayle King, Romany Malco, Laila Ali, Debra Lee, Stephen Hill, Ilyasah Shabazz (daughter of Malcolm X).

Spike Lee made the premiere a family affair arriving with his wife, daughter and son.
