Occupy the Corners in Harlem

To challenge inner-city violence, a community initiative called Occupy the Corners will be launched in New York City tonight, Aug. 17. For four weeks, members of the National Action Network, led by the Rev. Al Sharpton, will stand on city corners Friday-Sunday from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Participants are asked to wear white T-shirts and bring a flashlight.

In Harlem and East Harlem:

129th St. & Seventh Ave.: Led by Iesha Sekou, Street Corners Resources
111th St. & Madison Ave.: Led by the Rev.Vernon Williams
